In this assignment, you will learn about theories in group work and conceptualize a brief group counseling interaction from two different theoretical orientations—one being cognitive–behavioral and the other from a perspective that you choose. You will also begin to understand how you interact as a group leader and what principles guide your interventions. The purpose of this assignment is to understand group theory in practice and develop your identity as a group leader.
Tasks:

Revisit the Yalom outpatient group video and review the case of a group counseling interaction.
In about 300 words, discuss the case from two different theoretical orientations—one being cognitive–behavioral and the other from a theoretical orientation of your choice. Please choose your own theoretical orientation if it differs from CBT.  If CBT is your personal theoretical orientation please choose for your second orientation a theory of interest to you. For each orientation, post your responses to the following:

Explain the principles that guide your thinking and actions as a group leader.
Identify the manner in which you might respond as the group leader to the clients utilizing this orientation.
Analyze the reactions or responses you expect from the clients based on your interventions.

Examine the manner in which your responses differ using the two different theories.
