Discuss the implications of study upon the profession of nursing and upon the economy, and society.Survey Design and 10- survey questions to collect data about ( questions developed from health belief concepts and tai chi)perceptions and knowledge of Tai Chi. Convenience sampling of older African Americans from local church. Intervention will be a survey questionnaire about Tai Chi benefits and knowledge about exercise recommendations for time, frequency, and muscle strengthen, as recommended by the 2008 Physical Activity Guidelines. Please include the introduction page for the study and the 240 word abstract for the paper. Research question is: What are the perceptions and knowledge of Tai chi among older African Americans? Please complete the abstract and the introduction to the study. Convenience sampling of older African Americans from a local church will be recruited for study. Data collection- Survey 10- questions about Tai Chi and perceptions and knowledge. Participants will observe a 15- 20 minute tai chi DVD followed by completion of a survey paper and pen . Introduction includes signifance of study, Demographics and aging population who is sedentary and developing chronic preventable, costly diseases. Discuss impact of chronic diseases on independence, function, and muscle weakness and falls and escalating health care cost.
