1.Identify two key variables you plan to study. They could be things like, e.g.,social class,sexual orientation,unemployment rate, self-esteem, religiosity, support for gun control, homicide rate.
2. What are the units of which this can be measured? (Individuals? Families? Companies? Cities? Countries?)
3. How many dimensions does each variable have? Could one survey question effectively measure it or would you need more than one?
4. Please publish survey questions (or sets of questions) to measure each of your variables. These are one example of what we call indicators.
5.What level of measurement do your resulting operationalized variables have? Are they nominal, ordinal or interval-ratio? (Hint: each is only one of these.)
