Write a two-paragraph summary of the gene you have chosen for the independent project. This should not be the gene summary as found on NCBI Gene. It should be your own summary based on looking at the NCBI Gene pages for the gene for (at least) human and mouse. It should include (if available) information about the tissues that the gene is expressed in, the number of citations for the gene in Pubmed, human disease associations, the function of the product of the gene, processes or pathways that it is part of, and where in the cell the product is found. Don’t simply list what you find in the database; rather aim to synthesize the information into useful knowledge.
Also provide a bibliography of at least 15 peer-reviewed published research articles related to your gene. Format the references following the guide included in the Research Paper Style Guide posted on Moodle.
