Based on the topic you chose for the Week 1 assignment, you will write a purpose statement and one or two research questions for a possible study related to that topic. Keep in mind that you are practicing as you publish these components and that for the final paper, which is your mini research proposal, you will have the opportunity to revise. Later in this course, you will practice publishing a quantitative purpose statement and research question(s). During the final week, you will decide which methodological approach is most suitable for your topic and choose to use either the qualitative version or the quantitative version of this assignment.

Consider reviewing Chapter 2, specifically the Guidelines for Writing a Purpose Statement and the Checklist Evaluating a Purpose Statement sections.
Based on the topic you chose for the Week 1 assignment, include the following in your paper:
Write one or two sentences that explain your topic.
Write a one sentence qualitative purpose statement that embodies the single purpose of your potential study. It should begin like this: “The purpose of this qualitative study is to [verb: determine, examine, investigate, etc.) [state the purpose of your study or project].”
Your purpose statement should align with an issue, situation, or problem related to your topic.
Write one or two qualitative research questions that align with your purpose statement.
The Qualitative Purpose Statement and Research Question(s) paper
Must include both components explained in the instructions and be relatively short.
Must be one to two double-spaced pages in length (not including title) and formatted according to APA Style (Links to an external site.) as outlined in the Writing Center’s APA Formatting for Microsoft Word (Links to an external site.) resource.
Must include a separate title page with the following:
Title of paper in bold font
Space should be between title and the rest of the information on the title page.
Student’s name
Name of institution (University of Arizona Global Campus)
Course name and number
Instructor’s name
Due date
