For this week’s discussion you will research your state’s assault and battery
statutes. Please address each of the following in your response:
Have the two crimes been combined into one offense? If not, how are the crimes of assault and battery distinguished?
Does your state’s assault or battery crime law require the aggressor to have the “present ability” to commit harm?
Do the statutes have special provisions that address assaults or batteries performed against certain categories of persons, such as an assault on a public servant, a security officer or an elderly person?
Make sure to cite your statutes in your post.
Compare and contrast your response to one of your classmates from a different state.
