When I was growing up, the views on teen pregnancy were very harsh. Society frowned greatly on teen pregnancy and having children out of wedlock. As the time passes, society has changedsome of it views and have allow or are more tolerable about teen pregnancy. You see todayshows called “Sixteen and Pregnant.More than 700,000 teenage girls got pregnant in the United States in 2010; in fact, 3 out of every 10 girls in the United States will become pregnant beforethe age of 20 (Albert, 2010) and 1 in 10 new mothers are teenagers (Center for Disease Controland Prevention, 2011).Thus, even while recent data suggest that teen pregnancy is at a two decade low (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2011 it is not an issue that should be ignored. The creators of this show wanted to show the world the struggles, difficulties and situations that teen mothers go.On one hand, it kind of scares teenagers and shows them the consequences but on the other hand it has led to teenagers getting pregnant just to be on the show.

Too many teens are engaged in dangerous behavior: close to half of 15-17 year olds havehad sex; one-fifth see drugs, alcohol and teen pregnancy as a very serious problem for their close circle of friends; and one-fifth know a student who has brought a gun to school. Teens in the United States are far more likely to give birth than in any other industrialized country in the world. U.S. teens are two and a half times as likely to give birth as compared  in Canada, around four times as likely as teens in Germany or Norway, and almost 10 times as likely as teens in Switzerland. Among more developed countries, Russia has the next highestteen birth rate after the United States, but an American teenage girl is still around 25 percent more likely to give birth than her counterpart in Russia. Moreover, these statistics incorporate the almost 40 percent fall in the teen birth rate that the United States has experienced over thepast two decades.
