Research Proposal Topic
RELIGIOUS DEVELOPMENT OF YOUNG ADULTS
Proposing further investigation into whether faith development matures. Does faith taught at an
early age become the faith of choice as an adult?
I am choosing this topic because I know adults who attribute their upbringing to their strong faith. I
also know adults who say that their strict religious upbringing has turned them away from their
faith. I am curious to research if the majority of adults stay with the faith they are taught growing
up or stray to different religions or none at all
What are the most common drivers of spiritual growth for young adults raised with a Christian background?
Must include:
1. Title page
2. Abstract
3. Introduction to the paper
4. Literature review
5. Methods section
6. Complete list of references
The paper includes an APA style title page, abstract, and introduction.
*The introduction (2-3 Pages) states the overall area of interest you are researching. You should interest the reader further in the subject by telling them what to expect in the rest of your paper. You also want to indicate how your research is useful in the study of psychology and may be applicable to other disciplines as well (i.e. pastoring, voting trends, education, etc.). If you are doing a quantitative proposal you may define your variables in this section (these are the constructs you continue to find in your text like “religious orientation”, “attachment to God”. Etc.). You can do a quick summary in this section as well. The key is to capture the interest of the reader.
*Solid literature review is included (5-7 Pages).
*Methods section (1-3 Pages) is included. For this assignment, you do not need to give a great many details. Simply restate your research question and/or your hypothesis and using the information from Chapter 3 of the Paloutzian text tell me how you are going to investigate the topic to answer your research question. You can ignore all the subheadings in the example I have included if you want.
*You have included a reference section with six journal articles.
