Instructions
You probably have taken a personality or trait assessment at one point in your career or educational journey. Please select ONE of the three options listed below and answer all the questions fully considering the Career Pathway or field that you have chosen or wish to pursue.

Option 1:  Big Five Personality Test 

Do you agree with the results of the assessment (why or why not)?
How do these traits affect your professional goals based on your specific pathway?
Which personality traits do you identify with and what is their impact on how you lead (or would lead) a team?
Research the five dimensions (e.g. openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism) identified by this assessment and describe each one.
Identify leaders in your career field and assess which of the five dimensions that they have or were known to possess.  Assess and comment on their leadership legacy as you perceive it.
Complete the Big Five personality test and answer the following:
Prepare a report based on your research and the results of the assessment.  Refer to the attached rubric before submitting your work.

Option 2:  Emotional Intelligence

Research the five elements of emotional intelligence (self-awareness, self-regulation, self-motivation, empathy for others, and interpersonal and social skills).
Visit the Harvard Business Review website and enter the term “emotional intelligence” in the search area. You will find several articles and resource materials on emotional intelligence.  Using the material on the site (in addition to others you can find in the library), prepare a brief report on the importance of emotional intelligence for leaders in your chosen field of study/pathway.
Refer to the attached rubric before submitting your work.

 

Option 3: The Dark Triad

Dark Triad Personality test
Does a ‘dark triad’ of personality traits make you more successful?
Beware of the Malevolent Dark Triad
The Dark Triad or the fifty shades of gray in leadership
Research leaders in your field that demonstrate some of the traits of the dark triad (Psychopathy, Machiavellianism, Narcissism)
Take the Dark Triad Personality test and analyze the results. How do you compare to those leaders that you researched in your field? Prepare a brief report describing their career path, successes, failures, and the legacy they left behind (positive or negative). Refer to the attached rubric.

The report you submit for the option you select must contain:
•    Title page (your name, your Pathway, title, and date)•    Table of contents•    Body with headings•    A conclusion•    Sources cited in the APA format•    Recommended length is approximately six (2) pages, not including the title, table of content pages or citations.
Grades for this assignment will be determined based on how thorough you discuss the option you selected.  You must identify relevant facts from the topic, applying the chapter concepts learned as warranted, and fully address each question within your topic.  Students should not type the question and simply answer in any type of bullet or numerical form. 
APA formatting is required (cited sources, abstract, reference page, etc.).  Supplement and synthesize the analysis with outside research as needed.  For online help related to APA formatting, click on the hyperlink.  Additional sources of assistance are available in the Student Toolbox.  The submission should be a formatted APA style paper; anything less will receive a zero (0) grade.
