For this milestone, students will write a literary analysis proposal that briefly describes key

elements of their final paper. The proposal should identify two texts chosen from the class

readings, a common theme in these texts, and 1–2 literary device(s) that illustrate(s) this theme

in both novels.

To best facilitate this activity:

1. Create an announcement that reviews the milestone and includes a link to the

document.

2. Use the Milestone One Rubric to grade this assignment.

3. Return graded assignments to students in a timely manner.

4. Remind students that they should be making revisions to the milestone documents

based on instructor feedback and should incorporate their revised drafts into their final paper.
