Your discussion post must use the following format and address each prompt:
Introduction:
Identify the source of the news story, the author, and the date of publication. Include a link to the story or embed the video. Include images in your discussion to illustrate the topic of the story.
Provide an overview of the key issue(s) presented and identify the three most important points in the story.
Identify the sources of information used to produce the article (e.g., quantitative data or reporting on a recent book, report or public policy, or interview data). How does the author present facts?
Describe the tone of the story or the position the author adopts on the issue.
Discuss how the story tries to influence public opinion.
Explain your Motivation as an author:
Why did you decide on this topic?
Have these issues affected your own life or the lives of others you know? How so?
Is the topic addressed in other media sources? If so, where? How was it discussed?
Connect the news to our class material:
Explain why the article is valuable to understanding family life in America.
How does the news story relate to what you are discovering about family issues in class?
How does the story construct understanding about the family based on the article?
