The petetioner is Maria; her abuser is Jack.  Maria and Jack have maintained a close personal relationship for the past 3 years.  In fact, since the birth of their daughter, Michelle, on August 12, 2020, they have lived together.
 
While Jack has been abusive throughout their relationship, the abuse has escalated and yesterday, October 18, 2022, Jack attacked Maria during an argument wherein Maria suffered a black eye, bruises on her arms and back, and a broken arm.  She was taken by ambulance to the local hospital and treated for her injuries.  Michelle was released to a family member, and Jack was arrested for a violation of Penal Code 273.5 (domestic violence).  Jack remains in jail.  A report is being prepared by local law enforcement; however, the report will not be ready for 2 weeks.
      Maria wants sole legal and physical custody of Mchelle with no visitation to Jack.
