Each student will need to complete the following ATI module(s) and assignment as part of your clinical rotation. Materials

Objectives – After completion of lesson, the student will be able to: Identify pathophysiology, etiology, and risk factors for preeclampsia. • Complete a focused assessment on the client who has preeclampsia. • Describe the diagnostic testing and interventions for the client who has preeclampsia. • Identify complications for the client who has preeclampsia. • Plan and prioritize evidence-based care for a client who has preeclampsia. • Plan client education for preeclampsia and the preoperative client. • Communicate effectively and therapeutically with a client who has preeclampsia and her family. • Complete an accurate and effective SBAR communication
Scenario Overview This scenario focuses on a hospitalized pregnant client. It addresses client-centered concepts related to patterns of urination during pregnancy, pain assessment, seizure precautions, and cesarean section. Nursing-focused concepts include reviewing the electronic chart, recognizing complications of pregnancy, assessing pedal edema, and assessing fetal heart using an ultrasound transducer.
