The patient is a 56-year-old male who had been complaining of recurrent chest pain when performing mild activities at home. The chest pain subsides when he lies down. Also, he has experienced SOB when carrying groceries and climbing one set of stairs. He has a history of CHF.
Arrives in the ER with angina pectoris that is relieved with bed rest. His BP is 180/110. He has SOB. His EKG indicates he is having arrhythmias and an MI. He has been given aspirin and will be started on antiarrhythmias, diuretics, antihypertensives and oxygen. He will be admitted to CCU for observation and treatment.
