Write a five- to six-page double-spaced paper (title page, abstract, and reference list are not included in the page count) on the current impact of health reform on health care in the United States focusing on the three areas of access, quality, and cost. Please cite at least five peer-reviewed references (for example, articles, websites, texts) in the narrative of your paper. In-text citations should adhere to proper APA format (7th edition), and a list of references should be included at the end of your paper in APA format.
Your paper should address the impact of the ongoing rollout of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), passed in 2010, on the quality of health care in the United States today from your perspective as a health care administrator (HCA). Ensure the following four areas are addressed in your paper:
Access: Cite specific provisions or programs of the ACA that you believe have promoted access to care or created barriers to care. For example, in discussing access to care from a positive perspective, you might discuss provisions that expand Medicaid/Medicare coverage or programs that offer health insurance coverage to a larger number of Americans. Quality: Cite specific provisions of the ACA that have resulted in higher quality health care outcomes or have decreased quality outcomes. To address quality of care outcomes, you might describe provisions related to prevention of illness and the progression of disease (for example, immunization initiatives, provisions for diagnostic screenings, early detection of disease). Have these initiatives resulted in better quality of care outcomes? You also may discuss programs that improve care outcomes, such as Electronic Health Records (HER/EMR), or care programs for vulnerable populations, such as the elderly, women, and infants, or those with pre-existing medical conditions or serious illnesses.Cost: Discuss cost of care. Has the implementation of these programs caused U.S. citizens to pay more for their health care services or less? Please provide at least one example to support your opinion.Managerial function(s): Comment on how implementing the provisions of the ACA has affected the managerial functions of the HCA. For example, identify one or two of the seven managerial functions (for example, planning, directing, controlling, staffing) and discuss how those functions are impacted by having more Americans covered with health insurance.In summary, your paper should address the impact of the ACA as major health reform legislation that significantly affected access to care, quality of care in today’s health care system, and cost of health care in the United States. The paper also should address at least one managerial function that has been affected by health reform. Be sure to address these four areas in your paper (that is, access to care, quality of care outcomes, cost of care, and at least one managerial function) from your perspective as an HCA.
